Electromagnetic Spectrum

The electromagnetic spectrum is a group of different spectrums of radiation. The spectrums are categorized by differences in wavelength, frequency and energy. The wavelengths can differ from miles long to the size of an atom. The longest waves are radio waves and microwaves, the middle sized are infrared, Visible Light and ultraviolet (UV) waves and smallest waves are x-rays and gamma rays. The visible light is the only spectrum humans can see and this is the smallest portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Astronomers use the electromagnetic spectrum to see far space objects differently. They can't see most space well with only the visible light spectrum available. The spectrums that these objects produce are observed by astronomers. What they see tells them a lot about the object.  They learn about the objects size, characteristics and how it effects Earth.

I liked a lot about this project. One the factors that satisfied me was the availability of resources ready to be recorded. I could simply open a resource and use it for research. Also, the brochure was an interesting way to explain you information. It seemed easier. What I didn't like about the project was the paraphrasing. The paraphrasing covered an entire research site. This took to long in my opinion unlike other paraphrases I've done. Because of this, I think the due date was too early.

To make the project better, first, the due date should have been later. Some classes wouldn't have to be dedicated to the project though. Also, the paraphrase should have been shorter. I could have been a harder topic but not an entire what seemed like four pages. These would be the efforts to make the project better. Overall, the project was successfully completed. I have a neutral opinion on it.

Space Science Honors Glog Project Questions

            The Glog Project was about a particular star stage. Each group was assigned a different stage and had an example they had to research with it. The groups had to do research, create a handout, create a Glog presentation and share an oral presentation of the Glog with the class. The handout and Glog had to answer miscellaneous questions as well involving the HR diagram, planetary systems, Hubble telescope and many more as well. My group of Trevor, Nick and myself, Marty was assigned the Supernova and research about Supernova 1987A.
          
          I enjoyed the type of project we did. I enjoyed all the research we did conducted. I also liked forming the handout and presentation for the Glog. I I liked to help with the Glog as well as other tasks that were performed.
          
           What I didn't enjoy about the Glog was solving all the miscellaneous questions. They required extra research, extra time and work. It was also difficult to incorporate them into the Glog and handout. What was also difficult was getting citation information from all the sources that we used. Even if I used Easybib.com, not all URLs typed into the site came back with results. Therefore, some citations had to be personally made on Easybib.

          To make the project better, I would have tried to use a different format. I would have tried to use less miscellaneous questions if I could have control over the project format. This would require less research. The less research would require less painful citation making. Most of my problems would be solved. Even if I couldn't change the format and would have to put up with the unnecessary, I could still do more to improve my projects quality. First, I should have completed all my research before starting any other parts of my project. Second, I should have recorded all the site information when I used a site. Third, I could have made my script into a presentation format so it would have been easier to present. Lastly, my script was missing a question that should have been on it but was on the Glog. Besides that, my groups project was successful.

Beginning Questions for Blog

1. I am Martin of GHS and I am a very busy person. I play tennis, run x-country, am a BSA SPL and student Council Representative and have many other tasks with family, friends and other people. I am 14 years old, a freshman and I am interested in the medical and military fields, wanting to be an officer in the Army National Guard in the future being a field surgeon in the MedCorps. I am especially working in school taking mostly honors classes to challenge myself.

2. I took honors space science for a couple of reasons. First, I wanted to be very active in school taking difficult classes to get the extra challenge and recognition. I obviously would have to take Space Science to graduate, therefore, I took honors just to add the extra challenge. I am very interested in space with it's extensiveness, being raised by a father who was very interested in the stars. I would enjoy looking into his telescope on clear nights to see the moon and other stars. Therefore, I am interested in taking honors.

3. The obivious subject I am trying to get from this class is the graduation credit. Besides this, I want a true explanation of space that I haven't recieved from middle school. I also want to learn more about our impact on space and what we do to unfold its mysteries.
